FloodplainCover1.pngThe City of Phoenix participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As a participant of the NFIP, the city has adopted a Floodplain Management Ordinance, which includes mapping and rating of the Special Flood Hazard Areas within the city. Floodplain Management staff provide updated information and establish development requirements for projects within the city's Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA). These requirements keep properties from flooding and erosion hazards to a minimum, as well as protecting the natural resources within those flood prone areas.

Elevation certificates are available on file for properties within Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) at the Floodplain Management Office.

Contact Us:

Floodplain Management Office staff is available by appointment only. Questions about floodplain related issues, including residents experiencing flooding within a structure and those who are planning to build in a Special Flood Hazard Area, should be directed to the Floodplain Management Office.
